I remember my school days when there were teachers whose classes we dreaded attending. Instead of making learning easier, they made it more difficult. Rather than helping us understand, they added to our frustration. Some of us even lost interest in their subjects, and unfortunately, that affected our results.
Growing up, I believed that every teacher genuinely wanted what was best for their students. Sadly, we know that this is not always true in the world we live in today.
But here is the good news:
We have a teacher who gives us rest in a restless world.

“Do what I teach you to do. Listen to my message and learn from me what is true. I am very kind and I do not make myself important. I will help you. Then you will have peace in your mind.”
Jesus is not only our Savior—He is also our Teacher.
Sometimes we celebrate what Christ has done for us while forgetting what He is still doing in us. He didn’t simply come to save us from sin; He came to teach us how to live.
He invites us to learn from Him because He knows the truth. In fact, He is the Truth (John 14:6).
Jesus wants to remove the burdens we carry, but His desire goes even further. He teaches us how to live so that we don’t pick up new burdens after laying the old ones at His feet.
How often do we pray, surrender our worries to God, and then leave only to carry another burden through fear, anxiety, unforgiveness, or disobedience?
This leads us to an important question:
Are we doing what Jesus is teaching us to do?
Many of us enjoy listening to sermons, reading devotionals, and hearing God’s Word. But listening alone is not enough. The peace Jesus promises is connected to obedience.
Notice how Jesus describes Himself. He says that he is kind and humble. He is not harsh, intimidating, or proud. He teaches with compassion and patience. Unlike the teachers who discouraged us, Jesus never teaches to condemn us. He teaches to transform us.
And then He gives us a beautiful promise:
“Then you will have peace in your mind.”
How many people today are searching for peace of mind? Many pursue it through success, entertainment, relationships, or possessions. Yet Jesus offers a different path.
The formula is simple:
Listen to Him. Learn from Him. Do what He teaches.
Peace is not merely the absence of problems—it is the presence of Christ guiding your life.
Application
Take a few moments today to reflect on what Jesus has been teaching you recently through His Word.
Ask yourself:
- Is there an instruction from Jesus that I have heard but have not yet obeyed?
- Have I laid my burdens before Him, or have I picked them up again?
- Am I learning from Christ daily, or only turning to Him when life becomes difficult?
Today, choose to be more than a listener. Be a learner and a doer of Christ’s teaching. As you follow His example of humility, kindness, and obedience, you will discover the peace that only the greatest Teacher can give.
