Good day, good people! This is the day that the Lord has made; never forget that. Regardless of what you face in the morning, afternoon, or evening, this day to you and me is a gift, so let’s cherish it.
My sister said something today in the morning; she said, “Lord, help us to come with humility when we come to you in prayer.” And a thought came to my mind: “Is it possible to draw near the throne of grace with excessive confidence?” Because the writer of Hebrews does tell us to draw near with confidence (Hebrews 4:16).
So when I was done tutoring this morning, another thought came to mind: “How will my tutorial sessions be if I had an excessive confidence in what I know? Mind you, I do have to be bold about the stuff I am teaching, because if I am not confident, then how am I expecting the students to be confident about the stuff? But excessive confidence (prideful) may hinder me from being teachable or corrected. because as much as I am the tutor, I am bound to learn something from them.” And this is just one example of what excessive confidence can do to your daily life or any aspect of your life.
Oh no, I thought I was giving you an appetizer, and I ended up not leaving a space in your stomach for the meal. Okay, I guess it will be a takeaway!!
Proverbs 16:18 (ESV): “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.”
Are you headed towards destruction or a fall? Check if pride and a haughty spirit are your passengers. And do some inventory today and see if, when there was destruction in your life at some point, there was pride along the way before the destruction.
Prayer: Abba, Father, we thank you in Jesus’ name, Ameni!
In the name of Jesus we pray to remain humble 🙏
